Blue Cross HPN - ER visit question
My 1 year old, went to urgent care first and then they asked us to take her to emergency as she was having trouble breathing. We went to emergency and her oxygen level was 82%. A chest xray and couple test later she had rhinovirus and bronchitis. She was admitted by the ER doctor to the hospital. My insurance denied the claim because they need more info from doctor, from which doctor ER or the pediatrician that monitored her at the hospital I'm not sure.I have the sydney app it shows the bill for the provider and also shows the plan discount paying the full amount of that bill so my total is 0. Is that pending the doctors note? Not familiar with how plan discounts work, I have blue cross HPN.
Clements Insurance - Clements Insurance?
Has anyone used Clements Insurance? I'll be in Bangkok for 6 months to a year and I'm looking for full coverage on expensive personal property. They say they provide that coverage, but saying and doing....
Progressive - My golf cart hit my house, but insurance won’t cover the property damage.
Today my 3 year old hit the gas pedal on the golf cart and ran it into my other kids electric scooters/ the wall in my garage. I hopped off to grab stuff out of the back “trunk” type thing and next thing I know it’s gone forward and hit the house. Thankfully she was okay. She was scared, I was scared. We had a good cry. I have insurance on my golf cart. I called them up and they said after the deductible, the repairs to the golf cart would be covered but the damage to my other property (my home, my car, the electric bikes/scooters, my built in shelves and other random smaller items) will not be covered because I own those items. They said had it hit someone else’s scooters/house/car that would cover it.
When I got the golf cart, I called my insurance agent so I could add it to my homeowners policy and she said it was cheaper to have a separate policy for just the golf cart and to go through progressive. So this is what I did. I called my insurance company after hearing this news from progressive, and they said they could cover it under our homeowners policy- but that we would have to pay that deductible too. It wouldn’t be worth it to pay both deductibles. I am just surprised that progressive isn’t covering any of the personal property damage. Is this a normal thing?
Primerica - So, how do we feel about Primerica these days?
I’m looking for employment in the financial sector and I got on a zoom call with a financial services company, companies name is Axium. They’re an independent broker using Primerica as their custodian.
He kind of explained they’re like a marketplace for financial products now . 401(k)s, annuities, mutual funds, even rocket mortgage. As well as life insurance.
But I have concerns because I’m a child of the 90s and I remember Primerica having a bad rap.
Seems like they don’t have the same practices they used to. But I’m wondering if it’s worth it to take this employment, and if I’m just making something out of nothing.
Does anyone have firsthand experience with Primerica as a client or employee?
Cigna - Wisdom teeth extraction consultation
I’m really hoping someone who works in medical billing at a dentist office can help me understand this. For context, I have Cigna Dental PPO. I had an oral consultation today that cost $167. The oral surgeon said I definitely need the bottom ones removed, but said she isn’t worried about the top ones. Then here is an image of what I was quoted after. They said I would either be paying $5809 or $3789 depending on what my insurance says. She didn’t sound confident in what she was saying and was speaking to someone else prior. Then, they tried to make me schedule it with 50% down as if I have $1800-2900 just laying around. I could barely afford the consultation fee. I’m I being got or is this how much people are paying to get their wisdom teeth removed? I’m so lost…
Route 66 - As Is vehicle undisclosed transmission issue, aftermarket warranty denied, and dealer unresponsive
Location: Virginia
I live in Virginia — a state where “as-is” sales are firm, but not completely lock-tight.
I bought a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 from a small used car dealer less than two weeks ago. It was sold “as-is,” but the salesman promised a 90-day free warranty at the time of sale. Later, I was told it wasn’t added because he had “already paid processing fees.”
Four days after purchase, the transmission started acting up. By day five, it was shuddering, slipping, and losing power. I took it to a trusted transmission shop, and they dropped the pan and found a significant amount of metal shavings — consistent with a problem that had developed over many months. This wasn’t a sudden failure — it was clearly a pre-existing issue.
I thought I was covered under the extended warranty I believed I was buying through my loan. Turns out that warranty (Route 66) denied the claim, stating the damage was pre-existing.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
•Filed complaints with the BBB, Consumer Protection Agency, and the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board
•Reached out to several lawyers — I’ve got two consultations scheduled, but they’re still a ways out
•Still struggling to find an attorney who handles consumer auto fraud/litigation in my area
•Tried contacting the dealership multiple times — I’ve:
•Called both numbers posted on their door
•Left voicemails
•Emailed
•Messaged them on Facebook
•Even stopped by in person — no one was there
•The last thing I heard from them was “follow up after the diagnosis” — and nothing since
•I’ve also requested cancellation of the warranty since I feel it was misrepresented and clearly not helpful
Now I’m stuck using money that was supposed to go toward my loan to cover the canceled warranty and looking at paying out-of-pocket for a major repair.
At this point, I feel completely stuck. Has anyone else been through something like this in Virginia? Do I actually have any legal options — or is this just one of those expensive, awful life lessons?
All State - Help me get my basement flood covered?
My basement flooded this week with 5 inches of water. We have had a lot of rain. The sump pump appears to have given out and the backup sump pump didn't kick on. This has not fully been confirmed as the reason for the water because when the plumbers arrived the pit was only 2/3 full and water wasn't flowing out. BUT we have not been able to identify another cause or factor for the flood. The plumber mentioned that it could be due to malfunctioning drain tiles. We had an inspection and it was confirmed our house does not have drain tiles.
We have insurance through All State and our policy states the following is **not included.**
>
Water or any other substance overflows from a sump pump, sump pump well or other system designed for the removal of subsurface water which is drained from a foundation area of a structure.
I don't think there is much room for negotiating coverage with All State, but posting here because I am **desperate**. Does anyone have advice on what I can look into or how to try get this covered? The assessor is scheduled to come in 2 days and trying to get a case out together. TY!
MetLife - I recently moved and have to pay my deductible again? Why?
So I’m (M22) new to all this Pet Insurance jazz. I just recently moved to my own apartment from my mom’s house, so I moved my cats pet insurance to my new address just so it’s easier and have a sense of independence. When I called MetLife to switch my address, the representative said NOTHING until the very end about me having to pay my deductible AGAIN and I would also be charged ANOTHER payment for my cat’s insurance as it would be getting restarted. I just wanna know if this is true or if I gotta make a phone call?
Allstate - Allstate Quote: Questions
I ran the same quote three times and I keep getting different numbers.
One quote said $300, the other said $330 and then I get an email saying it’s $196.
What’s going on here?
Cigna - Seen by different doctor than I scheduled appointment with -- owe $1000
Hi All,
I'm hoping you can help me review my options and come up with a plan for a recent unexpected (and I believe inaccurate) medical bill. I get annual cleanings and other routine dental care (e.g. 1 set of x-rays a year) for free under my dental plan. I have just recently gotten off of my parent's insurance and onto my own plan so I made sure to double and triple check both on my insurance provider (Cigna)'s website and on Zocdoc that I was booking an in-network appointment. At my appointment, however, I was seen by a different dentist than the one I booked with who ended up being an out-of-network dentist. I was surprised by a $400 bill from Cigna, which should have been $0, several weeks later. A fruitless chat with a Cigna rep led to them reprocessing my claim, even though I knew it wouldn't do any good since the information submitted by the dental office showed that I was seen by the out-of-network dentist. A week ago the claim was processed and my bill went up to nearly $1000 because they say the facility is out of network. It is not, and I have a screenshot from Cigna's website showing it isn't.
Anyway, I'm feeling a bit lost about how to proceed. I know about the No Surprises act but am not totally sure how I would go about using it to my advantage here -- I do have the original emails showing that I booked my appointment with a different provider than the one who saw me, but am not sure how I can communicate this to the right people. Any advice about next steps would be very much appreciated! TIA for helping me figure out how to move through this.
EDIT: In my 20s, live in NY State, insured through employer.
