When I bought my car in 2022 i was living with my dad in florida and he signed for the car with me, in order to bring my payments down a bit the dealer recommended he be listed as the owner and i am the co-owner. I have since moved to Illinois and I was looking to bring down my insurance by getting my own policy, but he ended up receiving a threat to suspend his license for the car not being insured even though it was, so i just added him to my policy anyway. Now I’m trying to get a new policy because unfortunately my dads been in like 3 accidents in the last few years so State Farm dropped me after i added him on. Does anyone know if the primary owner HAS to be insured even if across the country or if he could file something specific proving insurance without him being listed? Or would i be able to just make myself the primary owner even though i’m still financing the car?

I just got car insurance for my new car and I got a letter days later saying they were missing a “signed application” from me. What does that even mean? I then called the customer service line and they put me on hold for an hour so I gave up. This was first acceptance car insurance

2019 Toyota Camry / New York / GEICO My husband was running late to work today and on the way there, there was a slow car right before the entrance to his job. He went around that car and his car slid and hit into a pole. No one got hurt. He said the car drives fine, the damage seems to be on the cosmetic side hopefully but he doesn’t know for sure that nothings leaking or broken inside. None of the sensors are going off. I wish I could post a picture. He contacted GEICO online since he’s still at work and couldn’t call. They made him take pictures without any detailed explanation about the state of the car and offered him 3k for the car. We are 4K away from paying off that car. We are not in a financial state to just get a new car and we were so excited to finally stop the crazy payments on the car. What do we do? Do we take the 3k and use it towards a new car? Or is there any chance to contact company directly and see if there’s a chance to fix the car? Sorry if my questions seem silly, I don’t know much about insurance or cars. Just want to ease some of my husbands worries if I’m able and have a clear way forward. He’s shook up and freaking out about how stupid he was to make such a mistake especially when we were about to be done paying it off. If you have any advice thank you in advance.

My insurer (Admiral) got in touch with me late last week advising me of a claim on my account that I needed to check. Unfortunately I was on holiday so have only had a chance to look into it today. However, I haven't been involved in any incidents at all - ever. I've never hit another car, had an accident, or been involved in a crash. My car has zero damage, no bumps or scrapes, even the paintwork is pristine (I use it infrequently) I've never once claimed on insurance, or even needed to. I checked the claim date and I happened to be travelling to London and back that day from Birmingham for work (my once in a lifetime trip, last minute so couldn't catch a train conveniently). I can say for sure that I wasn't involved in an incident that day as I spent it all either on a motorway or parked at a hotel attending a conference. The claim itself has no information attached for me to refute. I haven't had a chance to call them yet (it's on my to-do list for later today) but have emailed them asking for more information/clarity. What do I do from here? I'm confused, surprised, frustrated, and very worried that it's going to affect my insurance or future costs. Is it a fraudulent claim, or have I been claimed against in error? Any advice is much appreciate :)

I was in an accident back in April. At the time I did not have insurance on my car. The driver who hit and totaled my car admitted fault. Since I didn’t have insurance at the time I contacted their insurance company(Corvel) myself. After 2 months of constantly calling I was able to get in contact with an agent and she was able to compensate me for the car damages and towing charges. She later said she would take care of my medical. I was supposed to gather my medical records from the day of the accident and my medical bills and email them to her. I sent them back in the beginning of June and have not heard back since. Ive emailed and called and have heard nothing. Is this worth pursuing or should I just call it a day and be grateful for what I have received?

On July 24, I was involved in an accident in Houston, where the other car suddenly changed lanes on the highway and caused an accident. I called the police and the other driver accepted his fault. Police has made a incident report and seems like full report takes some time to come. We both had geico insurance. Police made the incident report and gave me the details of the other person's details, insurance policy and all but did ask me for anything. Now, when I call geico, they say that they have not yet gotten the other person's statement. I don't know what my options are. They also did not respond to my rental car issue and i had to get it myself. I missed couple of day of work as well due to the body pain. What should I do?

I live in a condo in Los Angeles. My unit had a leak that caused some damage in a neighbor's unit, but when I filed the claim with my HO6 insurance, they found me "not negligent" and so "not liable." It took a while, but I eventually got paid to fix the issue on my end—but my neighbor was left to fix their damages through their insurance. Of course, they're now threatening to sue. I understand that my insurance will defend me should there be a suit (they confirmed that I have coverage, but they won't pay because I'm not liable). My concern is that they sent me a non-renewal notice over this claim. My policy will expire in two months. This means the claim needs to be closed so I can shop and secure a new provider... So, what happens if the lawsuit comes after the claim closes and I'm insured somewhere else? Who takes care of the lawsuit then? Am I being screwed over somehow by my current insurer right now? I mean, the non-renewal surely felt so, but if I'm going to be left to handle a potential lawsuit by myself, I don't know what I'll do. :-( Thoughts?

I have met my Medicare deductible. I have plan G Medicare supplement which pays all co-pays, etc. I am being billed by a doctor’s office in spite of the fact that I have no further liability for co-pays. What is the best way to resolve this as the doctors office keep sending me a bill.

A couple of weeks ago a gentleman ran the stop sign in front of my house and used my new mudroom as a stopping mechanism. We were told to get an estimate from a contractor and they would cut us a check. We got a detailed estimate and the insurance company sent it out for review. The review came back with a 6000.00$ reduction in the estimate due to not enough detail on the labor side of the estimate. The insurance agent said that we could accept the money while we submitted an updated more detailed estimate to get the extra 6000.00$. Should we take the money while we wait for the contractor to update the estimate or should we get the updated estimate first?

I'm probably going include an annoying amount of detail, so feel free to skip to the tl/dr. A little more than a week ago, I was struck by a car while riding my bike on a sidewalk (legal in my area). The driver was turning right and only checked to his left. I slowed and thought he saw me (FL allows DARK tint). I was wrong. He impacted my tire and my knee only stopping when I stuck his passenger window with my fist. My first words were "did you even fucking look?" at volume 24. That prompted a "calm down lady". I saw red about the same time that I noticed his EMT cadet uniform. The officer who responded didn't ticket him. But the crash report is clear that he is at fault. The officer asked if I would be willing to allow the driver to pay out of pocket if the damage was property only. I'm not a monster wanting to throw barrels into the path of this young man's life so I had the wheel repaired and ignored the minor cosmetic stuff. I texted him the $33 bill from my very reasonable bike guy. He swore he would send a check. (I do not want him having access to more information than he currently has). Well guess what? Yeah. I'm just done. I want to make a claim on the policy on the police report. But it's GEICO, which us also my own insurance policy. Will the pidling petty little claim red flag me to my own carrier? Tl/dr Emt cadet hit me with a car. Got very lucky with a tiny amount of damage. Will Geico ding me if I file a claim since he failed to self pay?
